About
Wanda P Cosentino is an Italo-Brazilian artist and researcher based in Paris, France.
Educated between Milan and Paris, she receives ongoing mentorship from Anna Israel and Lucas Rehnman. Her practice draws on systems thinking, particularly Fritjof Capra's view of interconnected, relational dynamics, and its parallels with mysticism.
In her early research, she investigated altered states of connected attention and ritualistic modes of production, drawing on Eastern philosophies and long periods of travel. This has since given way to a more integrated systemic outlook, with growing attention to space itself as an active part of the work.
Working across installation and painting on Japanese paper, she explores the relation between opacity and transparency, and how light moves through a work in space. Japanese paper, resin, and latex hold gesture and light through their own porosity. Technological tools, when present - a camera, a sensor - are used as instruments of capture, registering what remains invisible in the process itself.
